Brand Identity Design
2026

Ollen Café is a boutique café centred on ritual, where coffee becomes a considered pause, and everyday moments are approached with intention and care.
Oramer Studio was engaged to develop a visual identity that balances restraint and warmth, positioning the brand as both premium and approachable within a saturated market.
Subtly influenced by the depth and richness of Zanzibar’s coffee heritage, the identity translates cultural nuance into a refined and contemporary system, designed to feel calm, cohesive and enduring across every touchpoint.

the challenge
The café category is saturated with familiar visual tropes, rustic textures, vintage styling, and overly decorative branding systems.
The challenge was to create an identity that feels distinct and contemporary, while maintaining the warmth and familiarity expected of a neighbourhood café. At the same time, the brand needed to introduce a sense of depth, subtly influenced by Zanzibar’s coffee heritage, without becoming literal or theme-driven.
The outcome required a careful balance: a brand that feels restrained yet rich, premium yet approachable, and capable of standing apart within a highly competitive landscape.
The identity was developed through a process of reduction and intention—removing unnecessary visual elements in favour of a system that feels calm, clear, and highly considered.
Rather than relying on decorative cues, the design focuses on structure, contrast, and materiality. A restrained colour palette anchored by Midnight Roast and supported by warmer tones such as Zanzibar Mocha, creates a balance between depth and warmth.
The selection of the TT Firs Neue typeface plays a central role in expressing Ollen Café’s identity as a brand defined by restraint, clarity and modern ritual. Rather than relying on overly expressive or decorative typography, the choice of a contemporary sans-serif reinforces a more considered and intentional aesthetic, aligning with the café’s calm and refined positioning.
Its geometric structure brings a sense of order and consistency, while subtle humanist nuances soften the overall feel, ensuring the brand remains approachable rather than clinical. This balance mirrors the core idea of the project: a café that feels both elevated and familiar.
Together, these elements form a flexible identity system designed to scale seamlessly across packaging, signage and digital touchpoints, ensuring consistency while allowing the brand to feel natural in application.
